Generation Innovation

We were delighted to recently welcome local company “Catalyst” into school to introduce some of our Sixth Form pupils to ‘Design Thinking’ and to inform them about their work experience programme “Generation Innovation”. This is an exciting new grassroots programme aimed at ambitious 17–18-year-olds, which has been created to inspire young people to become the leaders, innovators and trailblazers of the future and which energises their imaginations and aspirations by increasing their knowledge of 21st-century skills and awareness of future careers in technology and innovation. Students on the programme receive “Design Thinking” training over the course of five days, learning how to work as part of a new team made up of students from across Northern Ireland. The new skills are then put to the test to solve a real-world company challenge, developing a solution before pitching it to a partner company and their fellow students. This was a very interactive and informative presentation and our thanks goes to Catalyst for showing a group of our pupils around the Innovation Centre in Belfast.
