We are delighted to have recently set up eight new Careers Societies for our Lower Sixth pupils which will provide a programme of support as part of their preparation for university, apprenticeships and future employment opportunities. The Societies are all pupil-led, and offer pupil leadership roles alongside a programme of interview preparation, extended reading and guest speakers. The “Healthcare Society” have hosted their first meeting with guest speaker, former pupil Katie Heaney, Patron of the Society. Katie spoke to pupils via Zoom to tell them about herself and her work as a nurse. Katie outlined how her work is impacted by other healthcare professionals and highlighted the reasons why she felt she would be a good fit to work in healthcare. The group had the opportunity to ask Katie questions relevant to her journey of becoming a nurse and she was able to give advice to the pupils about personal statements and the university interview processes. We look forward to updates from our other Societies in the coming weeks and months.
