‘BBC Share Your Career Story’

The BBC is now 100 years old and as part of its Centenary celebrations has been hosting a series of roadshows around schools. A team of BBC staff came into school recently to host an event called, ‘BBC Share Your Career Story’, to enlighten pupils on the wide range of career opportunites available as well as the importance of "Storytelling".

The group led a careers session with our Form 3, 4 and 5 pupils with local industry professionals, guided by BBC host Kathryn Wilson. The session focues on a discussion focussed on careers in "storytelling". It reinforced the importance of storytelling in a wide range of different careers, such as Marketing, News and Sport Reporting, Law, Entrepreneurship, Design and many more! The panellists involved were Ryan Drane, a Digital Artist and Animator, Ellen Fitzimmons, Manager of the Titanic Experience and Sarah McCaffrey, a Business Development Manager with the BBC.

The presentation was very interesting and informative, and conducted in an interactive way which enabled pupils to ask their own questions to the panellists. It was enjoyed by all who attended!
